Pantham
Review: ‘Pantham’ is at its heart, the story of a man with a golden heart who wants nothing more than to serve those in need, instead of being a millions-amassing businessman. Also at the heart of the film are the themes of corruption (“Common man is the most corrupted part of the system,” thunders Gopichand in a scene), politicians pretending to be ‘Bhai’s, where the ex gratia payments promised to victims of injustice go and a lot more.
‘Pantham’ doesn’t tell you a story you’ve never seen before, but it will make you think twice about the world you live in, offering a delightfully idealistic solution to the problems India faces. The film is Gopichand’s landmark 25th film, so it’s only natural that the actor be leading the show all through. Good with fights and acing the performance in a key courtroom scene (for which many cinematic liberties were taken), he has come a long way since he debuted in the industry. His character Vikranth has all the makings of a true-blue commercial hero, performing gravity defying stunts one second and pulling off heists the next.
