The Outpost an accident that required two screws in his ankle nearly prevented Scott Eastwood from playing a real-life soldier The Outpost in Afghanistan in “The Outpost,” as the role required a level physical condition.
Eastwood reserved how he got hurt, but said it took “interesting” footage. Director Rod Lurie had “hell trying to figure out how to design scenes during the first few weeks that I couldn’t walk,” he said.
Lurie rescheduled the entire shoot, starting with the still scenes and saving the action scenes for last. “When you see Scott Eastwood in this movie running and shooting, you have to remember that this guy had a broken ankle and that he is a stud. Just like his dad ”, he jokes. Eastwood, who plays Sergeant-in-Charge Clint Romesha, is the son of action star Clint Eastwood.
“The Outpost,” co-starring Orlando Bloom and Caleb Landry Jones, follows the 2009 Battle of Kamdesh in Afghanistan. The Taliban attacked a remote US combat outpost deep inside the mountain that was nearly impossible to defend. Despite winning the battle and holding the base, eight American soldiers died.
